Description
The Joliet Public Library will be visited and lookups of obituaries will be performed. They micro-film they have in their holdings begins with the year 1846. However, prior to 1900 obituaries are very few and far between. Possible information you may learn from an obituary are any siblings names (surviving or deceased), parents names, a woman’s maiden name, and place of burial. To just name a few. This is just not limited to death of Joliet residents. Residents of other townships appear. Obituaries may also appear from New Lenox, Frankfort, Mokena, Plainfield, Lockport, and Wilmington. Keep in mind though obituaries from the early 1900’s offer less information then the ones of today.
I will do look ups on a weekly basis. I will scan and send the obituary upon arriving home. I will also include all documentation information in case you ever need to locate the obituary again.
