About Me:

I began researching my family in 2002 while just a junior in high school. Please don't let the fact that I am only 26 years old fool you. I am very committed and passionate about genealogy. It started off as a hobby for my grandmother and myself. I now jokingly refer to it as my part-time job. I have since taken the knowledge of records I have gained to help others. I enjoy helping others locate and retrieve documents that they may not be able to obtain themselves. Before joining genlighten I maintained (and still do) my own website. Through that website I located many of the same records I now offer on here. In recent months I have been used by professional genealogist in Salt Lake City to retrieve records in Will and Cook Counties.

I know nothing about Chicago so I don't which paper I should look for an obituary for someone who stayed on College Grove av in 42 and on Columbus street in 1918. Where should I look?

I would suggest the "Chicago Tribune". If they where of African American descent I might suggest the "Chicago Defender".

Hi, I'm looking for an obit for a person who lived in Elmhurst, IL but was pronounced dead in Berman, IL. Would this be in your area. Date would be 1924? Lynn

Hi, I have a distant relative who's death certificate I'm unable to find via Familysearch, though I know the date of death and that it was first-degree murder, and can find the certificate number through the Illinois state index site. I did however, also find a cook county coroner's inquest record number for the individual so I'm curious if that is something you look up? I was interested in a death certificate, but it sounds like this coroner's record has more information.

Cook County Coroner's Inquest is a look up I offer. As long as it falls between a certain time frame. And does not appear in one of the missing volumes. What is the date of the inquest you would be interested in locating?

I'm interested in locating a record from 3/17/1901 filed on 3/19/1901 filed under Dennis Sweeney. Hopefully that vol/page would be available?
