I will visit the Circuit Court Archives to obtain a copy of a naturalization record from the Circuit Court, Criminal Court, Superior Court, or County Court when you provide me with information from FamilySearch's Illinois, Northern District Naturalization Index, 1840-1950. (The index is also available at Ancestry.com.)
Please note: Early naturalization records don't provide the detailed information that you will see on the petitions from 1906 forward. This page summarizes the information you'd expect to see broken down by year.
Many of the early records are single documents and I'm able to scan them in color, but many of the later records are in large, unwieldy, tightly-bound books. The clerks do their very best to get good readable copies for me and I do my best to make sure you get all of the important information, but the copies almost always have shadowing of some sort.
Turnaround time will vary depending on when I receive your request. I usually make the trip downtown once every 7-10 days (usually Fridays or Mondays) but if I have a number of pending request, I will go sooner.
If you have questions about the lookup, just message me.
Fee if I find the record you requested: $10.00
Fee if I don’t find the record after a thorough search: $0.00
Please type the name, date of naturalization, court name, and certificate or file number. If you have a copy of the Soundex card, let me know. I might ask you to email it to me through Genlighten.
