About Me

I attended my first genealogy seminar as a teenager in 1975, after three of my grandparents had passed, and I was hooked. I researched my American ancestry off and on over the years, and in 1999 I began learning to read handwritten German records. When I wanted to know what the records could tell me beyond names, dates, and relationships, I finally chose my major and returned to school. In the summer of 2011 I studied in southwest Germany and traveled through my ancestors' villages in Vorarlberg, Austria. I graduated with honors from the University of Memphis in May 2012. Currently I live in Columbus, Ohio, volunteering and researching at the nearest Family History Center.
